Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is usually caused by exposure to asbestos. It affects the protective lining of internal organs. Asbestos was used in buildings for many years, so unfortunately mesothelioma is also present. It can take 20 to 50 years for the symptoms of mesothelioma to coalesce into something diagnosable.
